New Patients
This is a solo practice, and new-patient availability is limited. The typical wait for an initial appointment is approximately two to three months. This page explains who I see, how to get started, and what to expect.
Who I see
I treat adults 18 and older. My practice is focused mainly on medication management for depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and ADHD, and I frequently work with adults with OCD and trauma-related conditions, including PTSD. Many people come to me after earlier treatments have not helped enough, or when their diagnosis or medication regimen has become complicated.
You do not need a referral from a physician or therapist.
How to get started
- Email the office at info@salvatoremd.com with a short note about what you are looking for. Email is the best way to make first contact.
- We reply by email with next steps and a sense of whether the practice is likely to be a good fit for you.
- Before your first visit, you will receive the practice’s fee and policy information by email and will be asked to put a payment method on file.
What to expect
First visit. The initial evaluation takes about 75 minutes. It is the first step: if we both agree the practice is a good fit, we continue with ongoing treatment. One-time consultations and second opinions are also available.
Follow-up visits. Follow-ups run 20 to 40 minutes, depending on what is needed. How often we meet depends on your situation and changes over the course of treatment.
Therapy. You do not need to be in therapy to see me, though I often recommend it. Many of my patients have a therapist, and I coordinate with therapists and other clinicians when it is helpful and when you want that.
Telehealth. Video visits are available when clinically appropriate. I am licensed in New Jersey, so you must be physically in New Jersey at the time of a telehealth visit.
Insurance and fees
I am out of network with all insurance plans. Patients pay directly for visits, and I provide a superbill that can be submitted to insurance for possible reimbursement. Some PPO plans reimburse part of the cost of out of network care, but coverage varies. Fee information is sent by email before your first visit and is available on request.
